Why you pay on the website, not in the app
Google Play requires in-app subscriptions to go through Google Play Billing, which doesn't support MTN or Airtel Mobile Money in Uganda. Rather than force families onto a card they may not have, we keep the app completely free and sell the optional upgrade here. Full detail on the billing page.
Pricing questions
Is the free tier really free, or is it a trial?
Really free, with no end date. Every lesson, every quiz, read-aloud, search, bookmarks and progress tracking are free permanently and do not need a card. Pro adds the AI Tutor and nothing is taken away from Free to make Pro look better.
What happens when my 30 photo questions run out?
The tutor pauses for the rest of the month. You can buy top-up credits from UGX 3,000, or wait for your allowance to reset on your renewal date. Everything else in the app keeps working as normal.
Do top-up credits expire?
No. Once bought they stay in your account until you use them, including after a subscription lapses.
Can one subscription cover two children?
Not currently — a subscription covers one learner account, because the AI allowance is per account. A parent can link to and pay for several children separately. A proper family plan is on our list; tell us at support@kioo.site if you want it, it helps us prioritise.
How do I cancel?
Profile → Subscription → Cancel in the app, or from kioo.site/pro on the web. It takes one tap, there is no retention maze, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. See cancelling.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — full refund within 7 days if you have used 5 or fewer photo questions, plus refunds for double charges, failed activations and unauthorised purchases by a child. The complete policy is on the billing page.
Are there adverts?
None, on either tier. Kioo shows no third-party adverts and builds no advertising profiles. It is used by six-year-olds; that settles it.
Do schools get different pricing?
Bulk seats and class dashboards are in development. If you are a school or tutoring centre, write to support@kioo.site and we will talk.
